Huawei Enjoy 8 pleasant surprise

Let's start by pressing an open door: the Huawei enjoy 8 is big. Of course, do not expect anything from a phablet with a 6 "screen. If you are allergic to this kind of products, then it is better to go your way. other, note that despite this very large size display, the set remains compact enough for the category. A little more than a year ago, Huawei had amazed his world with the quality of the rendering of the screens of his Mate 7 and Mate 7 Gold. The Huawei enjoy 8 has the same characteristics with a full HD IPS display of 6 ", we expected it to at least as well as its predecessors under the probes of our lab. But this is unfortunately not the case, especially on the side colorimetry with a delta Eat 3.9 and a color temperature of 6849 Kelvin. Be careful, these values remain very good in absolute terms. They are just a bit below the best of their kind. Touch responsiveness and afterglow are no problem, with 59 ms and 16 ms, respectively. Finally, the newcomer's screen hits hard on the side of maximum brightness (496 cd / m²) and contrast (1426: 1). The slab shows a luminous reflection of 13%, in the average of the sector, but relatively far from the 8% of a Galaxy S6 edge + for example. Nevertheless, consulting this outdoor display is not a problem, even in sunny weather.



To animate his Huawei enjoy 8, Huawei has not unsurprisingly opted for the latest version of Android (6.0.1 Marshmallow), on which he put his usual interface EMUI, here in version 4.0. Recall that it broadly resumes the usual operation of Google's OS, to one detail. The application menu has been removed here. Everything happens on one level, that of home screens, like an iOS. It will take a few moments of adaptation for those who have never handled an interface of this type. But the grip is fast and EMUI is pleasant to practice on a daily basis. This is the main thing. With EMUI 4.0, we notice the appearance of a multi-window mode. If it is practical on such a large screen, it suffers for the moment the limited number of applications with which it is compatible. But we bet that it is going fast. There are also many gesture controls, including knuckles, to take screenshots or launch an application by drawing a letter on the screen. The fingerprint reader can trigger a picture or answer a call. On the other hand, you cannot lower the notification area from there.



With its large screen of very good quality, the Huawei enjoy 8 is unsurprisingly an excellent smartphone for who wants to watch videos in a mobility situation. Especially since the autonomy for this particular use is quite colossal as you will see in the last part of this test. The only small shadow on the board is to go for compatible formats. If the .mp4, the .mkv or even the .mov are not a problem, it's not the same with the .avi, but this is not a point unacceptable to the extent that it is sufficient to install from Google Play one of the many high-quality video playback apps, like MX Player, to get everything back in order. 


 If so far this test of the Huawei enjoy 8 is a concert of praise, there is still a point on which it disappoints a little, namely the photographic rendering. The device embeds a 16 Mpx stabilized (OIS) sensor. The clichés it captures are not bad in the absolute, but compared to those of other high-end, they are a little behind in terms of the level of detail or performance in low light, as you will see for yourself in our face-to-face photo. It's even more surprising that even the Nexus 6P, also made by Huawei, is doing better in these areas. We also note here deformations towards the edges. Finally, a word on capturing videos to finish. If the clips captured in Full HD 1080p at 60 fps prove to be irreproachable, we would have liked to film in UHD-4K. It probably does not work for the world at the moment, but the story will not be the same in a few months when UHD TVs invade the stores.
